INVESTMENTS

We have a straightforward aim: to help clients optimise their investment returns.

Our starting point is to get to know new clients and establish from them their needs and requirements. We then produce an investment recommendation which is specific to your personal circumstances.

We advise, arrange and monitor both lump-sum and regular contribution investments for clients, who could be private individuals or trustees. Of course, if you have an existing portfolio which may require reviewing and changing, we will also be able to assist.

We follow a detailed investment process utilising leading technology and taking many factors into account, including your objectives and risk profile. You can read more about this below.

Lump-sum investment

Clients with a sum of money, usually greater than £50,000, may wish to invest in assets that have the potential to achieve a return above that of a cash-based deposit account.

The available capital may result from one or more of the following situations:

  • the receipt of an inheritance
  • careful saving over many years
  • retirement – clients with tax-free lump sums looking for growth and/or income
  • a windfall following the sale of a business or property

Lump-sum investment advice and arrangement packages start from £1,250 (minimum investment amount: £50,000).

Regular contribution investment

By saving a regular amount each month you can build a lump-sum for the future.

This differs from simply saving cash into a bank account as you will have the possibility of achieving a return over and above the amounts you save (however, please remember that the value of your investments can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invested).

Investing regularly in this way lends itself particularly well to building-up a sum for children or grandchildren to receive when they reach adulthood.

The regular contribution investment advice service is usually only offered to existing clients as an add-on to other services.

Investment objectives

When investing it is important to have clear objective(s). For example, it is possible to invest to achieve growth, to produce an income from your existing capital or a combination of the two. Your objectives, along with your intended timescale for holding the investments, will determine how your money is invested.

We can also help clients wishing to take environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into consideration when investing.

Our investment process

Our typical investment process is set out in detail below.

  1. Decide on the purpose of your investments e.g. growth, income or a combination of the two and how much risk you are willing and able to take.
  2. Determined predominantly by your risk profile, asset allocation describes the method of dividing money within your investment portfolio into different asset classes or categories. This provides diversification and the correct asset allocation will ensure that you are investing at a risk level you are comfortable with and appropriate to you.
  3. The most suitable funds are selected for the investor. Units/shares in investment funds are the actual assets that are purchased when you make an investment. We have a robust fund selection policy to help select the most appropriate funds.
  4. The wrapper selected determines the taxation treatment of your investments. For example, it may be suitable to hold your investments in an Individual Savings Account (ISA).
  5. The investment platform chosen will deal with the administration relating to the purchase, sale and ongoing custody of your investments. Most have online access for clients as well as financial advisers.
  6. Checking your investments at regular intervals is important to ensure that they continue to meet your needs. We offer a range of ongoing service packages depending on your investment portfolio.
